MAPS has secured its first Fair Tax Mark certification, and joins the growing movement of responsible organisations who are proud to ‘say what they pay with pride’.
The Fair Tax Mark is an independent certification, which recognises organisations that demonstrate they are paying the right amount of corporation tax in the right place, at the right time. More than 60 businesses have now been certified. These include national brands such as the TUC, Timpson, Lush, and Richer Sounds, FTSE listed companies including SSE and Marshalls Plc., as well as co-operatives, family businesses and social enterprises.
David Stothard, managing director, said: “As an ethical organisation, we recognise that paying our taxes fairly and transparently is a vital part of demonstrating our values. Achieving the Fair Tax accreditation enables us to show our customers, suppliers, owners, and staff that we live the values we espouse. As we come out of the pandemic it has never been more important to show that we remain true to the values which are at the heart of our company.”
Jaime Boswell, head of accreditation at the Fair Tax Foundation, said: “We are delighted to announce that MAPS is the first business in the medico-legal sector to achieve the Fair Tax Mark, and is demonstrating a firm commitment to responsible tax conduct. It has now published its new tax policy on its website, which shuns tax avoidance and any artificial abuse of tax havens.
“MAPS has displayed both strong current tax rates and cash taxes paid over the last four years we reviewed as part of our assessment. It’s great to see MAPS ‘say what they pay with pride’.”
Polling* commissioned by the Fair Tax Foundation from ICM has recently found that two thirds of the public would rather shop with (66%) or work for (68%) a business that can prove it is paying its fair share of tax. Over three quarters (77%) of the public believe that all companies, whatever their size, should have to publicly disclose the taxes they do or don’t pay in the UK.
